Teach people how to use a microphone.
I have had so many speakers at events in which I have told them how to use a microphone. They simply go blank once they get on stage in front of people. it might be 15 people, it might be 1500 people. They just lose all memory of how to actually hold a microphone. When someone holds a microphone far away from their face it makes the sound team's job so difficult. They crank up the volume and here comes the feedback. How many times have you been in an event where there is feedback and everyone looks behind them staring at the sound team because it is their problem and their mistake? Or how many times have you been in an event and the human speaker walks in front of the physical speaker and they get immediate feedback because the microphone is facing the speaker box?
It is imperative that you teach people how to use a microphone. and then teach them again. and then teach them again. because when they get nervous they lose all knowledge of what they have learned. It will make your event and your sound team so much happier!
