The best show you have never seen
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this… because Apple TV has a smaller footprint than other streaming services their amazing shows go unnoticed. My family has discovered For All Mankind years later than we should have. If you ever loved shows like Lost or Mad Men or Breaking Bad or any other character driven, beautifully shot, and deeply significant shows this one is for you.
Why does this belong in a LinkedIn or Substack blog? Because story matters. And, to be honest, interwoven stories matter. That is why most shows succeed. We aren’t watching one character arc. We care about multiple character arcs and how they affect each other.
We are shocked when our favorite character leaves. (Are we not shocked when our favorite co-worker leaves?)
We hate the person in charge who thinks they know what should happen but has no idea what it takes to make that happen (*COUGH*)
All that to say…story matters. And YOUR story matters. You are not insignificant, but sadly, at work, you are replaceable. I experienced that myself and I clutched my pearls in that moment.
But guess what? You can start again. And to circle back to For All Mankind…they went from Earth to the Moon to Mars to one of Saturn’s moons.
And so will you.
