The comeback is greater than the setback by Liz Simpers
Have you been here before? You lost your job. You were laid off. The company restructured after COVID. You opened a brick and mortar business only to realize that the overhead was far reaching beyond the industry average of making a profit after year three.
The comeback might be after that corporate job. The comeback might also be after than corporate job followed by that passion project and then on to the next thing that is way outside of your comfort zone and expertise.
I have changed orgs and industries five times. Give yourself some grace. Your soft skills will transfer, just like you do. When you interview, know that hard skills can be taught, but soft skills cannot. Show them who you are. And if they don’t hire you, move on to the next. Company culture matters most, and you will find that right fit.
